As many of you have heard, and through much speculation over the past days, weeks and months, Mitt Romney chose Paul Ryan, a 7-term congressman from Wisconsin, as his V.P. Candidate.
The Choice of Ryan, while many may think opens Romney to criticism, is actually a very good choice. If you look at the litmus test of any V.P. pick, regardless of party, the 3 things that stand out are: 1) Does the pick share the beliefs and values of the nominee, and can he articulate them? In this case, it is a big yes, especially if you look at their previous campaign events. Paul Ryan is extremely well spoken, and has an enthusiastic style, which will counter, what many people claim as Romney's Dryness. 2) Does the pick energize the base. This is another easy one, yes. Ryan and the so-called Ryan Budget Plan have been supported by many Republicans and the Tea Party, and even some conservative Democrats. And lastly, 3) Can the pick take over on day one if needed? While many look at his youth, as a 7-term congressman, Ryan has spent a lot of time, not just on economic issues, but researching many of the issues that he is called to vote on, and how his budgets affect those other areas, such as defense, etc.
While not a litmus test item, the other thing is electoral votes. When you combine the fact that Ryan comes from Wisconsin, and the success of Governor Walker against the recall, there is a strong chance that Ryan could possibly help turn Wisconsin from Blue to Red.
All-in-all, I think Ryan is a great choice, and will compliment the Romney campaign well.
What say you???

I have seen and listened to various videos of Romney holding first one position and then another on one issue after another. This was even one of the many points his Republican opponents brought up against him in the primaries. So I suggest to you that as with almost all other politicians on the national stage, we cannot know what he actually believes.
Actually, Romney's history is of increasing the size of government. He only adopted the "severely conservative" ad campaign when he realized that he had to cater to the tea party in order to get elected. By choosing Ryan he has embraced the "tax breaks for the rich paid for by increasing taxes on the middle class" idea that is the centerpiece of the Ryan budget proposal.
Really? Ryan has been in politics his entire career and has zero foreign policy experience. That means the Romney/Ryan ticket has zero total foreign policy experience. Ryan also has voted for several key policies that Romney has railed against. So it will be interesting to see how they reconcile that.
Meanwhile, Romney is hoping that his pick of Ryan will distract everyone from the fact that Romney still refuses to follow precedent and release tax returns. Tax returns that will show he hid money overseas to avoid taxation. Since his entire economic theory, which was the Ryan theory to begin with, is based on giving more tax breaks for the super-rich on the idea that somehow the super-rich create jobs, the fact that his own tax returns prove that to be a fallacy is a major problem.
It's also why he continues to hide his tax returns from the American people.
Are you joking?
What is the Foreign experience of Barack Obama, other than catestrophic because he was totally unqualified, and clueless as to foreign policy?
As too records, he HAS followed the requiremenmts.
And as Big Mama said, where are the records that prove how Obama managed to attand Harvard, with his poor family upbringing, as well as Columbia and whatever the hell the other was? Further, where are the records of how well he did?
Tax returns will show that Romney had income - we already know that - Obamas records will show the deceipt in his 'stories' in which every verifiable one, has been fabrications, exaggerations to the point telling lies, and fully inane.
That says a lot about the base. That they get excited about a TARP supporting big government guy just shows why America is going down the slippery slope. The people that should know better are actually contributing to the problem.
I am fearful of BO getting a second term and what that would mean for this country so I must consider Romney. If I choose a third party I, in essence, give my vote to BO. That leaves me with Romney who is not a man of high integrity (IMO) put a politician with the ability to survive.
Another option is finding someone in the opposite situation, not wanting to vote for Obama but afraid doing so will "be a vote for Romney". You can both agree to either vote third party or whatever else you like, instead of voting for the status quo Obamney. The less support both get, the stronger message we send.
What has to be done is to focus on our Congress and our states. If you want the play third party there then by all means but sending a message via throwing away ones vote on a third party is not a good strategy.
We had an overwhelming number of Americans that were opposed to the bail outs and look how they took that - they told the American people to go to hell. There are only few things politicians understand , and they are unemployment - theirs, prison, or a lynching ..... I personally believe all three are needed for this congress.
I’m truly tired of republicans being part of the problem instead of the solution. To me it seems like throwing away my vote if I keep rewarding them for failure.
Obama is destroying America but if the republicans were worth anything they could prevent most of it. They control the House, and therefore, the purse strings. When they controlled the federal government under Bush, they were a disaster. Unsurprisingly Americas threw the football back to the Dems, which wasn’t a solution of course, but the republicans didn’t deserve to win either.
